Oh, the irony.

'Stefani to cover up for Malaysia show'

"I wonder what she would have said if Christian groups in the U.S. had made the same request. Sharia Alert from modern, moderate Malaysia, from Reuters (thanks to all who sent this in):

THERE will be no revealing costumes at US singer Gwen Stefani's concert in Malaysia this month, a newspaper reported, after a Muslim student group demanded that the event be cancelled as being too obscene.

Although Malaysia is a moderate Muslim country with sizeable non-Muslim minorities, conservative groups often frown upon departures from strict Koranic injunctions.

Malaysian mobile phone firm Maxis Communications, which is promoting the August 21 show as part of Stefani's "Sweet Escape" tour, promised it would feature no revealing costumes, the Star newspaper said."

  1. Cash, and probably contract, over principles. I do not dislike her music (which is a compliment, I suppose) and I approve of capitalism, but you're right - if they asked her to cover up in Birmingham, all hell would have broken loose.

  2. and should. If you don't like it, don't go. Jiminy cricket!

  3. More bullying and bleating from "the religion of peace." I guess they think that if they don't like something, nobody else can. I'm sorry, but no. Wherein lies the truly offensive: Stefani's bosom skin or the clits of all those women who are forcibly mutilated for Islam? If those students want to end things that are "obscene," they can start by taking that stupid book of theirs and throwing it back at the tyrants who preach it.
